About the IYNT
The IYNT is an inclusive educational network and a prestigious international competition. The IYNT is focused on student participants aged 12 to 16, the age group that has not yet chosen their favorite area of knowledge (physics, chemistry, or other discipline.) Participation in the IYNT stimulates students to choose their future research interests with consciousness and sparking motivation.
The framework of the IYNT requires long-term and dedicated work. Noone cannot solve an IYNT problem during an hour or a day, making the IYNT a very distant activity from exams or olympiads. The problems promote experimentation, critical thinking, independent research, and a whole new cooperation between teachers and their students.
The IYNT encourages teamwork on the problems. The students are not limited in ways of solving problems and in the ability to recruit friends and advisors of all levels. School teachers take an active part in the activities of the IYNT as leaders and advisers of teams. Parents are also reached by the competition and help students in their preparatory efforts.
Discussion of the tasks has a form of scientific discussions ('Science Fights', SF.) A SF resembles a scientific seminar or thesis defence. In a Science Fight, the teams switch their roles and take to the floor as Reporters, Opponents, and Reviewers.
